'Food Borrower'

Annoying to one person might be considered acceptable to another housemate. However, we are sure that one type of person that might make an appearance in your student accommodation Coventry is that of the food thief. We’ve all been there, you know you’ve brought a fresh loaf and now there’s nothing left. This is a common trait with sharing accommodation as you often don’t know the people you are sharing with and it’s not always obvious to spot the person who is eating your food.

Shared kitchens are a fact of student life and it is not hygienic to store food in your room, so you do need to share this space. You can label cupboards and shelves in the fridge for each of your own food. However, it is a fact that you are going to share milk and maybe bread.  You can consider a food kitty, but this only works if everyone contributes.

Another alternative is to lock food cupboards. This may seem extreme, but if food keeps going missing and you have left notes and polite messages and even tried to reason with housemates – it is an alternative.

Sharing accommodation in a house share or even student accommodation Coventry university will result in having to compromise, it is ok to ‘borrow bread’ if you replace what your borrowed.
